Overview Aiming to arrive at a new international consensus in 2015, the governments of the world’s countries are being asked to submit proposals for new greenhouse gas emission reduction targets by March 2015. Furthermore, the UN Climate Summit will be held on September 23rd in New York, during which countries’ heads of state will show their commitment to global warming measures. However, Japan’s global warming measures are at a standstill, and discussions regarding new targets have not even began. At this symposium, the history of and new movements in the outlook for climate negotiations will be shared, and a CAN-Japan proposal for Japan’s new greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets will be announced. A government-affiliated individual involved in climate change negotiations will also take the podium. We hope that everyone will be able to participate.
